Leftover paint and stains

Open HHW takes leftover paint; closed days go to PaintCare.

For El Paso and Teller County households, leftover architectural paint (including oil-based and stains in original labeled cans) goes to Household Hazardous Waste at 3255 Akers Dr, Colorado Springs 80922 when that facility is open. If HHW is closed that day, or you are over 50 gallons in a year, use the PaintCare locator instead. Spray-paint aerosol is not a PaintCare drop—wait for HHW.

PaintCare drop-off is for leftover architectural paint in labeled, non-leaking containers. It refuses aerosol coatings, empty cans, leaking cans, and unlabeled product. On a Wednesday, a holiday, or any Saturday that is not 2026-09-19 or 2026-11-07, do not drive to Akers Drive expecting paint intake. Use PaintCare that day, then confirm the site by phone. This is a planning aid, not legal advice.
