Batteries

Lithium is unverified at HHW; alkaline and lead-acid can go there.

The county HHW accepted list names Batteries and Lead Acid, not lithium. This site does not treat lithium as an HHW drop. The named path for lithium is Battery Network. Ordinary household alkaline and lead-acid batteries remain encoded as HHW-accepted when the facility is open for El Paso and Teller County households.

Do not assume a sealed lithium pack from a laptop, tool, or e-bike is the same as a household AA. The HHW page lists Batteries and Lead Acid; it does not name lithium. Until the county names lithium, Battery Network is the encoded route.

If you only have household alkaline or automotive lead-acid, you can plan an HHW visit on an open weekday. Closed every Wednesday, Labor Day 2026-09-07, and unlisted Saturdays. Listed Saturdays 2026-09-19 and 2026-11-07 are 8:30 a.m.–noon with no large loads. 50+ items: 719-520-7879 or text 719-331-3226.

Use the selector with the matching battery type and your date. County page wins if the accepted list changes after 2026-08-31.
